《我不是超人》第一季第三集围绕着获取新客户：亚特兰蒂斯人的芳心进行展开。 但是老板竟然夸下海口，说第二天的派对上海王会来。艾米丽一听就傻了。 这句台词中的 bust one's chops 的使用频率并不是很高。 通常情况下只是在恶作剧之后，表示“吓吓你而已” 或者 “认真你就输了” 的意思的时候使用。 bust one's chops 其实是有一个由来的。 19世纪末20世纪初，男士留着一种，叫做mutton chops 或者lamp chops, 即络腮胡式样的胡子被认为是时尚。 bust one's chops 直译即打在某人脸上, 弄乱他的胡须让他难堪。 后来就渐渐演变成了 “吓吓你而已” 或者 “认真你就输了” 的意思了。 【例句】Don't get mad, i'm just busting your chops. 不要生气，我只是故意气气你。 这句台词中 drop the ball 是一个挺常用的词组。 这个词组源于体育运动，直译：掉了球。 之后，渐渐引申为：某人犯了一个粗心的错误，掉链子或者努力不够，没有成功达到目标。 【例句】 I completely forgot to return the client’s phone call.
