接着上一期的内容，这一期我们继续看长难句解析。 1.There are far too many companies still delaying creating a lean and green business system, arguing that it will cost money or require sizable capital investments. 句的剖析 句子主干：There are…companies… 成分分析： ① 本句there be句型。 ② delaying creating a lean and green business system为现在分词短语作后置定语修饰companies。 ③ arguing that …investments在句中作状语。该分词短语中包含一个that引导的宾语从句。 词的讲解 lean a.节俭的，精简的 sizable a.相当大的 capital n.资本 句的翻译 太多公司依然迟迟不愿建立一个精简和绿色的经营体制，认为这需要花费金钱或大量的资本投入。 2.But the real difference is that in developing nations, the move from rural areas to cities often leads to an accompanying increase in income—and that increase leads to an increase in the consumption of food and energy, which in turn causes a rise in carbon missions. 句的剖析 句子主干：…the real difference is… 成分分析： ① in developing nations…in carbon emissions是that引导的表语从句。 ② 表语从句中包含两个由and连接的分句。第二个分句中，that increase指的是increase in income。其中that是一个指示代词。 ③ which引导一个非限制性定语从句。 词的讲解 accompanying a.伴随的 consumption n. 消费；消耗量 emission n. 排放物，散发物 in return 继而，相应地 句的翻译 但是真正的差别在于，在发展中国家，人口从农村到城镇的迁移经常伴随着收入的增长，这种增长会导致食物与能源消费的增长，进而导致碳排放量的增加。 3.It is easy to miss amid the day-to-day headlines of global economic recession, but there is a less conspicuous kind of social upheaval（剧变）underway that is fast altering both the face of the planet and the way human beings live. 句的剖析 句子主干：It is easy to miss…, but there is a less conspicuous kind of social upheaval… 成分分析： ①整个句子是由but连接的并列句。 ②第一个分句是“It+be+a.+to do”句型，真正的主语是to miss…。 ③amid the day-to-day headlines of global economic recession作地点状语。 ④第二个分句是there be句型。 ⑤underway是形容词，作upheaval的后置定语。 ⑥that引导定语从句修饰upheaval。 词的讲解 amid prep. 在其中，在其间 recession n. 衰退，不景气 conspicuous a. 显著的，显而易见的 underway a. 在进行中的，起步的 alter v. 改变 句的翻译 虽然很容易被日常的全球经济衰退的新闻头条淹没，但仍有一种不那么引人注目的社会剧变正在迅速改变着这个星球的面貌和人类的生活方式。
