An alternative Chinese theory states that the word "ketchup" derives from a Chinese word composed of two characters (茄汁), which means "tomato sauce". 1. ganbei, int., n., and v. A Chinese drinking-toast, a call to drain one's glass. Also as intr. and trans., to drink (as) a toast. 2. pung, v. To take a discarded tile to complete a set of three identical tiles. Also trans.: to pick up (a discarded tile) to make a set of three.
