The 4th tropical storm of the year has hit the regions over there on Thursday. The mainland weather authority issued a yellow-alert warning. Strong winds and torrential rains have been reported in the southern coastal areas. Along the Qiongzhou Strait, which lies between Hainan and Guangdong, operators of passenger ships have been ordered to suspend boat trips. Flights were also canceled at Meilan International Airport in Haikou, which is the capital of Hainan Province. Mainland authorities are warning of landslides and other weather-related dangers in areas hit by the storm. Meanwhile, another storm is moving closer to Taiwan's east coast. Flood control authorities in neighboring Fujian Province on the Mainland are preparing for it now to make landfall.
